E-waste is an ever growing problem in the world we inhabit. Each and every year millions of products are replaced due to age, obsolescence, function or upgrades. Those replaced products are often incorrectly discarded into the trash, finding their way into landfills and incinerators and eventually releasing toxic materials into the surrounding environment. Materials such as lead, mercury, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), cadmium and beryllium can all have detrimental affects on the human body. Through our program we hope to educate the community about the increasing problems associated with improper disposal of E-waste and ways to help.
    Environmental Responsibility
Recycling E-waste is not as simple as just crushing a soda can and tossing it in the recycling bin. Your typical disposal method is inadequate for dealing with toxic materials such as lead, cadmium and mercury or for recovering rare materials like copper, silver and gold. Letting these materials sit out in landfills or be disposed of through incinerators causes toxins to be released into the atmosphere, seep into the environment, contaminate vital natural resources and leaves metric tons worth of viable rare materials in landfills leaching into our water supply and oceans. By informing communities about the proper methods of E-waste recycling, we aim to reduce the volume of toxic materials that end up being discarded while making the world a cleaner and safer place for all.
    Involving the Community
Taking care of our planet and the environment we live in is a burden that rests upon the shoulders of each and every person in the world. However, most of us aren’t entirely sure how to help. The average person separates their trash, puts out their recycle bin and tries not to litter. But when it comes to handling E-waste, the average person treats their old TV the same as a carton of rancid milk.

Each household may only generate a small portion of the total waste, but when aggregate is totaled the scale is gargantuan.  Through education and involvement of the community we are hoping to divert even just a small portion of the almost 40 million metric tons of E-waste away from our landfills and towards the recycling industry. If we work together, the better tomorrow we envision will become more than just a dream.

    Be a symbol of Green

Our program aims to create a green friendly location for E-waste collection in the community. Be it through our Collection Partner Program bins or scheduled E-waste collection events, we hope to simplify the process of how to handle and dispose of unwanted electronics.

Our Collection Partner Program bins allow for an open door, easy access, and quick drop off of smaller electronics like laptops, phones, and radios. We will then work with you to find a scheduled pickup that works with your school to be as non-invasive as possible. Oversized items such as large CRT TV's, home theater systems, and other similar large electronics should be scheduled for a pickup directly with us to prevent any hindrances to the day to day operations. Collect the E-waste and we’ll come and take it away at your convenience.

Perhaps a green friendly event would be more suited to your school’s needs. Set up an event and we’ll provide bins, informative packets and pamphlets, an optional presentation and answer any and all questions. Make the next Eco-friendly holiday that much better by helping to impact the mounting problem we face with E-waste.

    Why Schools?

Japan, a country well known for its trash problems and recycling efforts, is a world leader in the fight against E-waste. Cleaning of the schools is a job left to the students, one which teaches respect, responsibility, emphasizes equality, builds confidence and ingrains a sense of pride in taking care of their space. A lot of habits we develop as children stick with us well into adulthood. E-waste is still a relatively new problem, having only increased to its current magnitude in the last 20-30 years. By utilizing the school system to increase awareness about the E-waste problem, we are hoping to shed more light upon this ever growing epidemic and plant a seed of responsibility with the future of our planet. Children are the future and we need to give them all the tools they will need to succeed, not only in life but for life.

    Compensation

Besides showing your school’s propensity towards Eco-conscious practices and desire to help protect the world of tomorrow, we will also provide a small donation for the total amount of qualifying E-waste recycled at the end of each month. Not all E-waste will qualify for compensation, but anything that can will be detailed in the accompanying invoice.

At the end of the year we will tally up the totals for each school and provide an additional donation based upon the total E-waste recycled. The top schools with the most E-waste recycled will earn an additional check. Earn a little extra for helping to keep the planet a little cleaner, and earn even more by being one of the biggest contributors.
